Today’s interviewee is Psychoseby, our newest featured artist!
What name do you go by?
I go by Seby.
What’s the URL of your Artconomy profile?
What made you pick the name ‘Seby’?
Oh man, it was entirely unintentional, actually.
I’ve had the username ‘psychoseby’ online for over 10 years, so people online started calling me ‘seby’, and it stuck.
What made you pick the name ‘Psychoseby’, then?
I was an edgy teen when I picked it, haha. It could have been worse, I suppose!
What sort of art do you do? Any type/subject that you enjoy the most?
Well, most of my work is adult furry work, so I tend to stick to those themes.
I have been doing a lot of comic work lately for various things, which has been my most recent focus.
Comics are my goal, though.
How long have you been doing art, and how long have you been taking commissions?
I’ve been doing art since forever, but I started selling at small cons in high school, and moved to online about 5 years ago.
Do you have a particular piece you’re proud of and would like to share?
This one’s an older commission I did back when I was first selling online.
I had free reign with the background, and just had fun with it.
Almost all of my best work has detailed backgrounds, and it was around the time I worked on this one that I found my love for that kind of detail.
Before Artconomy, how did you handle commissions?
Just through fa notes and telegram chats, so it gets a little unorganized.
What would you say is the hardest/most time consuming part of the commission process?
Time consuming- sketch editing for sure, especially with bigger projects. Hardest for me is probably inking.
What would you say is your favorite part of the commissioning process?
Coloring for sure! Finally getting to all those finishing touches!
Is there a piece of advice you wish you’d gotten when starting out? What would you tell a new artist who’s throwing their hat into the ring?
Don’t underprice yourself. Underpricing your work is a one way ticket to burning yourself out.
Anything else you’d like to share with artists and commissioners?
For artists, just keep doing all the art!
