Today’s interview is with EurikaGray, who happens to be one of our featured artists on Artconomy.

How long have you been doing art, and how long have you been taking commissions?
Art always was a part of my life, to be honest, but I started drawing online only since 2011 and took my first commission in 2013.
Do you have a particular piece you’re proud of and would like to share?
What are your favorite and least favorite parts of the commissioning process?
I think my most favorite part is sketching, because it’s usually looks better and more dynamic than finished art.
I really enjoy this part of the process.
Another favorite part – it’s at this moment when I first show my work to customers to make sure that I do everything correctly.
Talking about my least favorite… It’s probably working with shading and lighting.
Before Artconomy, how did you handle commissions?
First I started taking commissions in my group on Russian social media. Later I moved to FurAffinity and DeviantArt.
What would you say is the hardest/most time consuming part of the commissioning process?
I think it’s the time before starting work.
It can take a lot of time for me to come up with a good composition which can piss me off and cause me to lose motivation to draw for some time.
And probably shading. Again.
Is there a piece of advice you wish you’d gotten when you were starting out? And/or any tips for other commission artists?
As usual: keep going. Just keep going and don’t give up, practice a lot to improve your skill. Also I really recommend being patient, especially with commissioners.
Anything else you’d like to share with us/other artists/commissioners?
First of all, I want to say thank you to all customers who decided to work with me.
It’s always a pleasure to do art and receive positive messages and I’m really happy when my old customers decide to commission me again.
Also shout-out to artists who worked with me and helped me a lot.
I also would really recommend beginners (and not only them) not to try copying other artist’s style, but looking at their work and learning will probably help you to find something new and interesting you can use in your own style.
And don’t get upset when you see someone who is better than you. It always will be like that, but it’s probably not a reason to give up.
