Interview with an Artist: TFOTR

This is a post in our ongoing campaign to showcase artists and help you get to know them. Today’s interview is with TFOTR!

What name do you go by?

I go by TFOTR.

What’s the URL for your Artconomy profile?

What sort of art do you do? Any type/subject you enjoy the most?

I do a lot of furry these days, but I do work on anime art as well as that is how I started out drawing.

I really like to draw subjects that involve cool colors, or scenery such as forests.

How long have you been doing art? And how long have you been taking commissions?

I’ve been doing art for about 20 years. I’ve been taking commissions since 2011.

Do you have a particular piece you’re proud of and would like to share?

This piece I made of my OC, Magus!

What are your favorite and least favorite parts of the commissioning process?

My favorite part of the commissioning process is sketching. My least favorite part is lineart.

Before Artconomy, how did you handle commissions?

I handled commissions through pen and paper/ or through social media, depending on whether it was an at con commission or online.

What would you say is the hardest/most time consuming part of the commissioning process?

The most time consuming part is most times the lineart for me, but depending on the composition choice, sometimes it is figuring out how to portray the composition needed.

Is there a piece of advice you wish you’d gotten when you were starting out? And/or any tips for other commission artists?

Try to draw things that you have had no practice drawing.

Take those out there requests, or commissions that can push you out of your comfort zone and help your skill.

That is my advice I wish I had had when I started out, and also the advice that I give to other commission artists.

Anything else you’d like to share with us/other artists/commissioners?

You can always keep improving, no matter how much or how little you have been drawing.

TFOTR is available for commissions today. Check out their shop on Artconomy!
